Tiberius Julius Caesar Augustus, Rome, 16 November 42 BC - Miseno, 16 March 37 AD. He was the second Roman Emperor of the Julio-Claudian dynasty, from 14 to 37 AD.
A member of the gens Claudia, he was named at birth Tiberius Claudius Nero. He was adopted by Augustus in 4 AD and his name changed into Tiberius Julius Caesar. When his adoptive father died, on August 19 of the AD 14, he became Tiberius Julius Caesar Augustus and could officially ascend the throne as princeps, although by 12 AD he has already joined the government of the empire.
