Alfred Boucher (1850-1934) was a French sculptor who joined the School of Fine Arts in 1869 (a pupil of Dubois). He worked in Rome and Paris, and this sculpture is probably the one entitled 'Aux champs', which was exhibited at the Salon in 1897. All his works are characterized by their naturalism, (Art nouveau current) he created the home ‘La Ruche’ in 1902 where so many great artists went...(source “Les bronzes du XIXème” by Mr KJELLBERG). “La Faneuse” is in particular kept in the museums of Besançon.
