Study of one of the heads from the series
by Franz Xaver Messerschmidt (a famous Swedish artist and sculptor from the late 1700s). This bust was made in the late 20th century by Italian artists who were studying the forms.
Making bronzes using the lost wax casting, a technique almost extinct today, involves various steps. First of all a first copy is needed, a wax model a plaster cast, and the creation of underground moulds that are created and destroyed every single time.
This sculpture is the second of a series of three.
