Important silver chalice made in the city of Catania, Italy, at the time of the Kingdom of Sicily.
The chalice has neoclassical styling and is very slender.
It features the hallmarks of the city of Catania (elephant with trunk upwards), the initials of the assayer Consul (CM), the last 2 digits of the date (1799) and the initials of the silversmith (RC).
Marks of the assay are present, where the silver was removed to check the purity of the metal.
