Superb and hard-to-find copper plaque, dating from the early 19th century, worked in repousse and depicting Saint Matthew and the Angel.
The two subjects, within a circular decorated frame, are embossed with extreme skill, just look at the pictures of the back. The edges of the plaque are also skilfully worked.
In the top left-hand corner there is an embossed Latin inscription with the name of the subject of the scene: 'S. Mathaeus’.
