Attractive Russian miniature icon, these icons were often given for the occassion of a baptism. Depicted are Holy Julitta and her son Kirik, martyrs from the second century AD who were martyred under the presecutions of the Christians by Diocletian. Many Russian girls are named Julitta and many boys Kirik. From a segment in heavenlyrealms Jesus blesses the holy Martyrs. Icon painted with egg tempera paint on silver covered with a varnish that makes it shining like gold, on levkas on a linden wood panel. Second half 19th century, used but in good condition.
